Benefit for Family of Fallen Greenville Police Officer to Take Place

Event follows celebration of Allen Jacobs’ birthday with family, students, police

A benefit for the family of a Greenville police officer who died in the line of duty is scheduled to take place in Travelers Rest on Sunday.

Many in the Upstate celebrated fallen Greenville police Officer Allen Jacobs’ birthday on Friday.

He would have turned 29 years old Saturday.

A benefit will take place at Trailblazer Park in Travelers Rest Sunday at noon.

Jacobs was a four-year veteran of the Greenville Police Department. He was killed in the line of duty March 18. Jacobs and another officer tried to talk to a teenager in the Nicholtown neighborhood who had recently gotten out of prison.

Jacobs was married with two boys and his wife is expecting a baby girl in July.
